Paul's Visa interview has been scheduled.....

.....for MONDAY!!! I called the State Department in DC this morning and Eastern (welfare agency in Korea) completed the paperwork and returned it to the Korean embassy. They scheduled his Visa interview for Monday the 2nd. This means we should be able to travel next week.......holy cow!!! We are waiting for our social worker to call and then we will book our flights!! The time is finally coming......we will let you know when we hear more!

A tour of Paul's room....

Ok, so still NO NEWS! We are still waiting "patiently"....and decided that we would post some pictures of Paul's room so that you can all see where the little fella will sleep when he finally comes home.

Not quite spring

Sorry, not really adoption related per se, but it's nights like these that I appreciate living in the Midwest - even if this winter has been akin to Siberia.

Friday the 13th it snowed, just enough to layer the ground. About 10pm that evening I walked into the front room and spied a family of deer grazing on our neighbors' front lawn. It was nice to sit and watch them enjoy a late night snack. Katie and I have discovered all kinds of wildlife in this area including turkeys and our summer friend, the early morning owl.

Anywho, with all the cruddy weather, it's worthwhile seeeing a scene like this.

Ok, it was 10pm and there was very little light, so it's not a shot from Nat Geo. Apparently the rest of the family moved on but I did get a shot of 1 mutant deer with his green eyes.

Something to think about.....

I am at work today trying to catch up after a tough week. I decided to start by cleaning up and cleaning out - my office was out of control. I ran across something that a coworker (also an adoptive mom) had given me a while back. I think you will all appreciate this - it brings a tear to my eyes when I read it and I find it very special. LEGACY OF AN ADOPTED CHILD

Once there were two women who never knew each other. One you cannot remember, the other you call mother.

Two different lives shaped to make yours one. One became your guiding star, the other became your sun.

The first one gave you life, the second taught you to live it. The first gave you a need to love, the second was there to give it.

One gave you a nationality, the other gave you a name. One gave you the seed of talent, the other gave you an aim.

One gave you emotions, the other calmed your fears. One saw your first sweet smile, the other dried your tears.

One gave you up, it was all that she could do. The other prayed for a child, and God led her straight to you.

And now you ask me through your tears, the age-old question through the years: Heredity or Environment -- which are you the product of? Neither, my darling -- Neither, just two different kinds of love.

Feels like spring.....

We are projected to hit 56 degrees today which is a welcome break from the bitter cold of the weeks past. It was a pretty long week for both of us so we have had a lazy morning so far. We have a long list of things to accomplish this weekend so we had better get busy! I think Jason is going to climb up on the roof and get the Christmas lights taken down and I am sure there is a long walk with Maya in our future.

We spoke to our social worker yesterday and asked if they could call to see what is going on with our paperwork....we are getting pretty anxious and we hope that they can give us some information to calm our minds. The key now is to just try to stay busy and keep our minds off the waiting.

Sooooo.....in the spirit of staying busy, I spent some time this week updating the blog to make it look a little nicer. Hope you like the new look! Have a great weekend.....

OK, so who is getting antsy???

Do I hear a resounding "WE ARE"??? Still no call and while we are trying to be patient, it is getting harder by the day. This is certainly the hardest "waiting" portion of the process by far. I feel like a mother that is over a week past her due date - everyone keeps asking if we have heard anything and we have nothing good to tell them! So, keep sending prayers our way that the call will come soon.

At this point, if we get the call this week, we will plan to travel next Sunday from O'Hare. If we don't get the call until late in the week (say Friday) then it might be the following Wednesday before we leave.

We clearly need to work on Paul's dialing skills - his pudgy fingers must not be able to punch the right buttons! =)
