The weather was just pretty darned perfect for two of the three days this Memorial Day weekend and we didn't let it go to waste. On Sunday we used our season passes to one of the city pools for the first time. Just a quick trip to get back in the swing of things.....and to see how Peter would react to all of the water fun. Here's the crew when we first arrived.....
Needless to say, the pool was a huge hit for our fearless little guy. We hung out in the shallow depth play area and everyone had a blast. Peter seemed to particularly like the water cannons.

Everyone went down the slides a few times, splashed around, Paul practiced his handstands and we laughed a lot. These kids love the water.
When it was time to go, we hung out in the grass for a little while to get dry before jumping in the car. He is growing up so fast.

When we woke up this morning and saw it was going to be another great day, we decided to head to Adventureland's water park......here's our family selfie before walking through the park to have more fun in the water.
We got there about 30 minutes after it opened and we were able to snag a set of chairs under a shade umbrella....yeah! The kids had to test them out.
This water park is HUGE and there were lots of people there today so I didn't take my phone out to snap any pictures of the kids. But we hit all of the fun spots.....the huge kids splash area with lots of trips on the slides, the big kid slides (Paul and daddy), the lazy river, the pool, the wave pool.....you get the picture. We all had so much fun. We took a nice break in the shade for some lunch.....here are my sweet big kids.
And that is how we spent the long weekend. Good stuff....and we are all going to be tired tomorrow!
We divided and conquered the fun this Memorial Day weekend. Jason and Paul headed to Chicago for our nephew Jon's high school graduation. I stayed home with the littles. We braved the potentially yucky weather to meet a few friends downtown for CelebrAsian. Love to celebrate our kids' birth culture and eat some yummy grub. Hey mom, I am dressed and ready to roll!
We met Lynn and Richard and headed for the inflatables section. I didn't think through the impact of the overnight rain before buying the far too expensive wrist bands for the kids. The inflatables were a rainy and grassy mess....but we made the best of it. All I could think was that daddy would NEVER have been okay with it.....came out feeling like the coolest mom ever. HA! There was lots of sliding down the big slide.
Hey mom....watch me! I hear this no less than 22 times per day.
On to the obstacle course.
And back to the big slide.
We got the kids cleaned up and met up with another team member and his wife and baby. We wandered around and ended up at the Korean food booth. The kids took their bulgogi and spicy pork very seriously.
And then we started walking and bumped right into the bubble tea booth.....strawberry for Lillie....
....and pineapple for Peter. In full disclosure, he snagged this one from Richard who was trying to be nice and give him a sip.....Peter had other intentions.
We ran into the Chinese dragon....which was great from a distance. Lillie wasn't so sure about it when it snuck up behind her.
It started sprinkling so we decided to head out.....Peter and Lynn had some great conversation.
And Lillie had Richard wrapped around her little finger.
Yet another fun time at this annual event. Hopefully we can ALL enjoy it together next year.
Sort of hard to believe we went to another preK graduation ceremony.....it is all just happening so fast! It was Lillie's turn this past Friday and she was SO excited. They had practiced their march, lining up in their rows and singing their songs. And then the day arrived.....she was thrilled to pick the most perfect outfit and of course the appropriately accompanying jewelry. And off we went to celebrate all of her hard work! Lots of smiles as we waited for the ceremony to begin.

Hard to believe our little girl is growing up but she is definitely ready for kindergarten in the fall.
The bigs had a great session of swim lessons this spring at the local YMCA. Both of them learned a lot and improved their swimming skills. Paul was slow to find his love of the pool so he is a little behind his peers.....he has gotten SO much better the last year or so. I loved watching him this year in his lessons. This was Lillie's first time taking formal lessons and she did great too! Here they are before Lillie's lesson started.
At the end of his lesson, they let Paul's class jump off the diving blocks into the deep end of the pool. I was SO proud that he was one of the only ones in his class to feel comfortable jumping in alone and swimming to the side.
I see a fun summer of swimming in store for us this year.
Last weekend was perfect weather for the first camping trip of the season. Clearly everyone else thought so too....the campgrounds were hopping! Paul picked a park that is about 20 minutes away and he and daddy headed out to get the campsite setup. I brought the littles out a little while later. We all spent some time hanging at the campsite - the kids ran around and picked up sticks for the fire. This was the most favorite stick of the day - everyone took a turn with it....and why wouldn't you want to lay it across your head?
I think Peter was pretty happy with his first campsite experience.

We headed back to the campsite and got the fire going. The bigs had fun throwing their sticks into the fire....Peter stayed far away from the fire!

The kids had lots of fun running around and chasing each other. They also met the kids from the neighboring campsite and had a lot of fun running around with them too.
Then it was time to roast our marshmallows and eat some s'mores!

We hung out until shortly after 7pm and then I took the littles home while Paul and Jason stayed to camp in the tent. They spent the evening with the neighboring campsite family and then nestled into the tent to watch some Star Wars and stay up way past Paul's normal bedtime. They had a beautiful night to snuggle into their sleeping bags....and they were nice enough to pick up some donuts the next morning when they arrived home! I see more camping in our future this summer.
