The weekend recap

I got home early enough on Friday that I could take the kids for a walk/bike ride to the park.  Someone was pretty happy to be riding in the stroller!

His favorite at the park....digger, digger, digger!

This is what happens when a fine haired little girl slides down a plastic slide...static to the max!

Miss bossy pants wanted to go to the other part of the park.

Big kid on the monkey bars.

As I was helping Paul get down from the monkey bars, I turned around to find Lillie at the top of the boulder wall.  Fast little bugger and a good climber!

Queen of the slide.

Lots of craziness on the swings.

Some video from our fun at the park!

We walked home so I could make dinner before Jason got back from his appointment.....and the batteries were dead in the garage door opener.  So we had to keep ourselves entertained until he got home...Paul decided to take Lillie for a spin in the stroller.

Saturday brought soccer and some mommy & Paul time.  He got to pick lunch after a great game of soccer (he scored 2 goals!).  He picked Machine Shed....and we got a free dessert because our service took a while.  He picked the cookie sundae that was as big as his head.  We controlled ourselves and only ate about 1/4 of it.  Yum!

After lunch we had to wait for our tractor ride so Paul entertained himself on the pig out front.

Sunday brought the threat of nasty weather so we got outside in the morning to get some fresh air.  Paul wanted to play with his new velcro paddle ball set....

Check out his mad skills:

Paul picked out a new Hello Kitty ball from Lillie while we were running errands on Saturday.  Such a nice big brother!

Paul had to bust out the stomp rocket....and Lillie gave it a try for the first time.  Her rockets didn't go nearly as far as Paul's did!

Partners in crime with the sidewalk chalk.

And then had to move to the sidewalk further away from mommy....and space away from each other.

Paul wanted to write his full name....he started with first and last and then added his Korean name and then his middle name (all in blue).  He then added a list in green.  He spelled it all out himself except for Lillie - he just needed me to list off the letters for him.  Too cute.

It was a busy weekend with lots of outside time.....so nice to finally have weather that allows us to spend time outside.  Sunday afternoon and evening brought some fierce storms that have continued into Monday.  Gotta love spring weather in the midwest!

Mother's Day 2013 - with BOTH kids!

What a blessing to celebrate Mother's Day with both of our kids at home this year.  After the opening of presents as soon as I came downstairs, the kids decided they wanted to paint for a while.  Shirtless painting is the only way to go and both kids had a blast.

A little paint on her nose but she is still the sweetest thing!

The finished product...3 painted by Paul and 1 by Lillie.

We got cleaned up, ran to Subway to grab some lunch and took it to Jester Park for a picnic.  Today's weather was cool but with little to no wind - much improved over yesterday!  Paul wanted to pick our spot to lunch and both kids took off running!

My lunch companions!

View from our lunch table....can't beat it!

Striking a pose.

Lillie was miffed that Paul can run faster than she can!

Always a diva...with her glitter shades on upside down.

BIG step!

Paul loves the arm slide and he's pretty good at it.

Daddy and Lillie had fun on the curly slide.

Best ride on the planet.

Paul got a cool water balloon pump and a ton of water balloons for his birthday (thanks Jack and Grace).  We decided to give it a try today with the only rule that the kids couldn't throw them at each other.  I can't even imagine the meltdown that would ensue if someone got a water balloon to the kisser!

Each time Lillie picked her own balloon from the bag, she picked pink!

Love the look of determination on his face as he tries to throw as far as he can!

Lillie's didn't go quite as far.....and this balloon is blue because Paul picked it for her.

 One, two, three....GO!

And one more throwing shot for good measure!

I got to pick dinner....and we had ribs cooked in the smoker along with corn on the cob and potato salad.  Everything was yummy today!  We had a full day and it was lots of fun.  I can't imagine a better day with my family.  I realized after we put the kids to bed that we didn't get a single picture of ME with anyone today....whoops!

And on this very special day I always take some time to thank ALL of the mothers in our kids' lives.  We tell Paul all the time how special he is to have 3 moms.....his birth mother, his foster mother and his forever mother!  Such special women that have made such sacrifice for our kids - we are forever in their debt.  And not to mention their awesome grandmothers that add such love to their lives.  A very special day all the way around.

Wind and Korean Tacos!

Saturday brought some cool temps and high winds...and of course we had soccer and then the annual CelebrAsian festival.  It was sunny but not very nice with the wind.  But we made the best of it and off we went!

Wagon transportation is the only way to go....

We grabbed some yummy Korean tacos (one bulgogi for the kids and a daeji bulgogi for the adults).  And then it was time for pad thai and some eggrolls.  It was all fantastic and made even better by eating it on a picnic blanket in the middle of a busy festival!

Crazy hair in all that wind.....

 Love that cheesy grin!

She loved the pad thai but evidently didn't like this particular bite!

Munching on an eggroll.

And then it was time for the balloon swords....always tough to know if you should trust your kids with balloon weapons!  Lillie wanted to make sure Paul knew that she had a sword too!

Do you think she was excited about her balloon sword?

And then there were balloon swords in a confined space like the car...lots of poking on the way home!

We had a very fun day and certainly hope for a little better weather next year!
