Our annual trip to the Fair was another success! I took a day off from work and the weather was perfect. We parked at the Capitol and took the bus to the fairgrounds.....plenty of smiles and bunny ears.
Cute little faces.....
We picked a pretty (and shady) spot for our lunch.....I hung out with the kids while Jason hit up the food booths.
First up was the footlong corn dogs....they were clearly tasty.
Had to wash them down with fresh squeezed lemonade.
And then we shared a smoked turkey leg.
Love these two....with their stuffed bellies and all!
We headed over to the Kids on the Farm exhibit. This is a very cute area where they can learn about farming, do a few "chores" and then snag a treat at the end. Here are our super cute farmers.....
....and then they turned into our crazy little farmers.....
Gotta love riding on the little green tractor.
Milking a pretend cow - sure thing!
Paul really wanted to try the bungee jumping trampoline - he had so much fun and jumped really high. No flips this time but he says if he gets to do this again that he will try a somersault.
And then it was off to the giant slide. Daddy and Lillie rode together and Paul went by himself.
And then it was time for treats - make your own slushies was the choice again this year. Lots of random flavor combinations chosen by these two.
The aftermath.....
And then our Fair fun was over and we rode the bus back to the Capitol....check out this beautiful day.
Not as much food ingested as some years but we had such a great time. It was the perfect break from Operation Peter Trip Planning.

Care package #13 - and should be the LAST
I realized I missed a post for care package #12....and didn't even take pictures of it. Whoops! It was a big baggie filled with Lego Duplos for Peter to build lots of towers and whatnot. Nothing fancy but we hope he is enjoying them.
As it turns out, package #13 should be our very last one. We didn't even know it at the time it was shipped to the lovely family that agreed to take it with them to Korea in August. We are hopeful that Peter will receive this later this month before we meet him in early September. This package was mostly firetruck themed.
Mickey on a firetruck that makes noise....why not!
Fun little book.....
The non-firetruck themed outfit. Thought this was super cute.
I LOVE this shirt - I found it on etsy and it was so soft and thick material. I will definitely shop from that seller again.
And here is her suitcase filled with packages....ours is front and center. Love seeing how our baggies travel. We will have a similar bag on our way over in September as well.
It is pretty surreal to think this might be the last time we stressed about what would fit into that darn baggie and what he would enjoy and what had we already sent, and, and, and. Lots of pressure to pick the perfect stuff - or at least it feels that way. It is such an honor to be able to send things while we wait. That being said, it will be great to just be able to buy fun things for Peter in person that aren't limited to such a small size! That is coming very soon.....

Recent randoms
I am so behind on blogging so thought I would dump a bunch of random kid pictures just for fun.
Paul came to my office to help us decorate for Brent's 40th birthday....needless to say he had a lot of fun.
We had a company picnic for families at Saylorville Lake....it was so dang hot but the kids had fun on the adjacent playground.
And they had fun eating dessert........
Random gifts purchased at Target for no reason at all. Pokemon cards for him.....
....and Princess Tiana for her.
Cuddles with Rascal.
Lillie's first trip to the nail salon - she got both her fingers and toes painted. The technicians at the salon got such a kick out of her.
The finished product.....so cute!
Paul earned tickets to the ICubs game through the library's summer reading program. It was initially supposed to be a boys night but daddy was sick so mommy was pinch hitter. We had a lot of fun eating our way through the game. It was a great night for baseball and Paul got to stay up past his bedtime.
A trip to Barnes and Noble to use a gift card from his birthday from Auntie Jen (yeah, I do realize it took a while to use it).
A quick trip to the pool this past weekend....kids are loving the pool this year.

GranJo's birthday!
We had fun a few weeks back to celebrate GranJo.....nothing like some cake and a big birthday to bring people together.
GranJo always hits up the local library for plenty of books for the kids before we visit. Which of course is a big deal for our book loving kids. There was a LOT of reading going on all day.
This was Maya's first trip after her surgery and she did pretty well. Hanging out with Auntie Jen and Paul.
Miss Lillie giving love to the birthday girl.
Hey look....Paul's reading.
Lillie enjoyed helping with dinner preparations....she was a great little green bean snapper.
Playing a little game of Yahtzee.
It was super hot and humid but we got outside for a little activity. There was a ball, some cool airplanes and some badminton.
Paul enjoyed hanging out with Pickles.....
Breaking up the reading with some Lego creations.
This was a yummy cake.....along with some homemade vanilla ice cream. This is a GranJo birthday tradition.
The joy and energy of this one.
GranJo and her babies....
It was a pretty great weekend filled with lots of laughter....and yummy food. I know GranJo doesn't like getting older but we certainly like to get together to celebrate.
